Aloe Vera Proves To Be A Good Natural Antioxidant Source

Aloe Vera is a good source of Antioxidants and Shows Preliminary Antimicrobial Properties

The journal Molecules reports that a team of researchers from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University in Spain wanted to find out if Aloe Vera flowers and the methanol extract of the skins of the Aloe Vera leafs are beneficial for people's health.

They concentrated their research on the extract's possible antioxidant and antimycoplasmic activities. In contrast to common antibiotics, which have no effect on Mycoplasma (a type of bacteria that has no cell wall), Antimycoplasmic substances however are able to destroy these bacteria.
The researchers discovered that both, the Aloe vera flower as well as the leaf extracts have antioxidant properties, although these properties are more predominant in the leaf extract, which also showed antimycoplasmic properties.

The researchers concluded that Aloe Vera extracts from the skin of the leaf and flower can be considered as good natural antioxidant sources.
